Save Energy and reduce your bills with a secoTHERM wall treatment

feature5

secoTHERM is a water-repellent cream for the protection of masonry. It dries to an invisible coating on brickwork which:

  • Improves the thermal efficiency of your home by keeping it dry.
  • Offers energy savings of up to 30% – sometimes more on really porous brickwork
  • Reduces heat loss and energy bills
  • Maintains the thermal properties of cavity wall insulation
  • Gives an insulating solution for solid wall properties that cannot receive cavity wall insulation
  • Provides a self-cleaning surface
  • Reduces maintenance due to water damage and algal growth
  • Protects against penetrating damp

When secoTHERM is applied by one of our accredited approved applicators, you can be sure that your wall is protected with the genuine product (be careful of poor imitations) and that the job has been done properly so you benefit from our 20 year guarantee.

How it works

Imagine taking a casserole out of the oven with a wet dishcloth. You will burn your hands very quickly. Now try taking the casserole out of the oven with a dry cloth. You can handle the pot for much longer. This is because heat transfers through something wet nearly 3 times faster than something dry.

The same happens when you wear wet clothes. Wet clothes make you feel cold and you have to use more energy to try and get warm.

This is what happens to our homes.

Wet walls = Cold buildings

Wet bricks convey heat 2.5 times faster than dry bricks, resulting in higher energy bills. 35% or more of our heat is lost through our walls.

A secoTHERM treatment will slow down this process. It saves you money on your energy bills and will last at least 20 years.

A secoTHERM treatment creates a thermal barrier that does not let heat escape as readily, keeping your home warmer and more energy efficient.

secoTHERM also increases the look and appearance of your home. secoTHERM creates a self -cleaning surface that protects against dirt, pollution, moss and algal growth.

A  secoTHERM treatment:

  • Improves the thermal efficiency of your home by keeping it dry. Offering energy savings of up to 30% sometimes more on really porous brickwork
  • Maintains the thermal properties of cavity wall insulation
  • Reduces heat loss
  • Gives an insulating solution for solid wall properties that cannot receive cavity wall insulation
  • Provides a self-cleaning surface
  • Protects against penetrating damp
  • Lasts in excess of 20 years

Does your home have cavity wall insulation?

According to the Energy Saving Trust, Up to 35% of heat is lost through un-insulated walls

If you live in a home with cavity walls, 35% of your heat is escaping through the walls, which is costing you money. Cavity wall insulation will stem this heat loss as long as your walls are dry.

Damp walls are thermal bridges if moisture collects in the pores of the wall, more heat is transferred than would be possible if the wall was completely dry. The thermal conductivity of the wall decreases enormously with dampness.

Tests have shown for example that a damp content of 5% in a plain brick wall can lower insulation performance by up to 50%. This is especially pertinent where cavity wall insulation has been installed because when the insulation is wet it loses its thermal value. Many home owners do not realise this fact.

A secoTHERM treatment will improve the thermal resistance of your exterior solid walls and will benefit you by saving up to 30% on your energy bills, potentially more dependent on the porosity of your brickwork.

Cavity walls treated with secoTHERM

  • Will improve the thermal efficiency of your home by keeping it dry, offering energy savings up to 30% and more depending on the porosity of the brickwork.
  • Maintain the thermal properties of cavity wall insulation
  • Reduce heat loss
  • Self cleaning surface
  • Up to 20 years protection

Does your home have a solid wall construction?

According to the Energy Saving Trust, Up to 45% of heat is lost through un-insulated solid walls

If you live in a home with solid walls, 45% of your heat is escaping through the walls which is costing you money.

Solid wall construction, non-traditional construction and non- standard cavity are the categories that are most difficult to treat for insulation.

6.6 million properties have solid walls which represent 31% of the total UK housing stock.

Solid wall properties tend to be more difficult and expensive to improve in terms of adequate insulation.

secoTHERM is a viable alternative to external insulation which can be costly. External insulation is also not an option when homeowners do not want to change the physical aspect, look and appearance of their property.

Damp walls are thermal bridges if moisture collects in the pores of the wall, more heat is transferred than would be possible if the wall was completely dry. The thermal conductivity of the wall decreases enormously with dampness.

Tests have shown for example that a damp content of 5% in a solid wall construction can lower insulation performance by up to 50%
